GENERAL DENTISTRY
At Plett Dental Studio we offer a comprehensive general dentistry service, including the following:
-
Check up’s, including taking dental x-rays, to examine tooth structure as well as gum condition. We will also look for abnormal tissue.
-
Composite tooth-coloured fillings. Many patients like this material because of the aesthetic benefits, however we also recognize the bonding ability of composite fillings to support the remaining tooth structure, in comparison to old silver fillings
-
Tooth Extractions, including wisdom teeth
-
Root Canal Treatment is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma. The term "root canal" comes from cleaning of the canals inside the tooth's root.
-
Sports Mouth Guards, custom made for better protection
-
Night Guard / Bite Plate for patients with grinding and clenching habits
-
Anxiety control - for anxious children and adults, we can make use of the following 3 methods;
-
Oral sedation – we would prescribe a tablet sedative to be taken approximately 1 hour prior to the appointment. Oral sedation doesn't put patients to sleep, but it helps them stay calm and relaxed.
-
Intravenous sedation - delivered through a needle inserted into the patient's vein. Again the patient remains conscious but the sedation helps them relax and even sleep.
-
General anaesthetic - this option is performed in hospital where the anaesthetic is administered by a specialist anaesthetist whilst our dentist performs the dental procedure.
